In Fellinger's "junky" piece "Don't Talk Trash," oil barrels, buckets, various household bowls, iron pipes tuned, car brake drums, aluminum tubes, and four thunder sheets are all used. You and your students will not only have a blast tracking these "instruments" down, but also performing this groovin' piece!
Program Notes
One could describe the instrumentation of the piece as a bunch of junk. Oil barrels, buckets, various household bowls, iron pipes tuned, car brake drums, aluminum tubes, and four thunder sheets are used. Through the use of a binary and/or ternary pulse the piece makes the sound of metal instruments times softer and finer or harder and rougher appear. The piece shows the great tonal range of metal, which must be not only loud and rough.
