Lunar Glimmer
Arranger/Composer: Jason DeCristofaro
Item Code: 30510
Publisher: C. Alan Publications
Lunar Glimmer was composed on a January night looking across a canopy of deciduous trees. Being in a rural area, and with the trees completely devoid of leaves, the exceptionally bright moon that night provided a flood of brilliant light through the window onto the vibraphone bars, resulting in this piece.
Program Notes
Lunar Glimmer was composed on a January night. I was practicing vibraphone in my office at Warren Wilson College, which looks directly across a canopy of deciduous trees. Being in a rural area, and with the trees completely devoid of leaves, the exceptionally bright moon that night provided a flood of brilliant light through my office window, onto the vibraphone bars. In that moment, I felt a deep connection to the moon. The moonlight on my bars must have inspired me deeply, as I wrote the entire piece in a few hours, the vibraphone bathed in moonlight.
