The Squared Circle is an engaging and fast-paced piece that is written with the advanced player in mind. For those who have become weary of counting rests for the greater good, this is a chance to move your hands and help remember why you love playing percussion instruments. The title is derived from the idea that percussionists are often required to conform to a model that doesn’t connect with their inner musical desires. This piece also draws musical inspiration from the infectious energy of the Colombian musical group, Cimarrón.
