KraftHammer
Arranger/Composer: Daniel McCarthy
Item Code: 03290
Publisher: C. Alan Publications
An engaging sonic representation of the construction of a new building, KraftHammer maintains a driving energy from beginning to end. A tour de force for the entire ensemble. The aggressive wind and percussion writing emulates the human effort that goes into every large project.
Program Notes
Commissioned by The College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana State University for the dedication of the university's new Fine and Performing Arts building.
For a year, the composer observed the flurry of activity and the tremendous sounds in and around the construction site for Indiana State University's new Fine and Performing Arts building. Thus, the piece is dedicated to the workers who built the building - who toiled with great hammers and mechanical devices - to the human effort to make a structure rise.
